Thermal and Seismic Capacity Improvements for Masonry Building Heritage: A Unified Retrofitting System

Today, the attention in retrofitting of building is quickly growing. In this field, re-use waste materials and innovation techniques are among crucial topics. Generally, thermal capacity seismic resistance two aspects very felt by owners. Commonly, independent approaches assessed order to cover energy mechanical lacks a building. such way, intervention may result time- cost-consuming or, sometimes, poorly effective. The present paper aimed propose validate new system based on partial use materials, as fly ash expanded glass (acting matrix), fiber open grid reinforcement. proposal suitable for plastering with double scope insulation strengthening throughout unique application. An experimental investigation was carried out considering small-scaled masonry panels double-side retrofitting. studied parameters were transmittance shear strength. results evidenced effectiveness proposed technique, able significantly improve un-retrofitted masonry, from both point view.
